After only a week with these little Old English Game bantam chicks they have grown a ton of feathers! Such a difference watching this bantam breed grow feathers but not much in overall size compared to the first batch, a standard size red sex link, we got from McMurray Hatchery. These chicks are purely an ornamental breed and Naomi would like to show them and breed them. Eventually we will name them (something we won’t do with any chicken we raise for meat) but we’re not sure yet which are roosters or hens. So the names will wait for now.
Their faces are never clean. Not only can they not reach it, but these guys love their food so much the just jump face first into it! Hoping they figure out how to not make such a mess soon!
Some days I wish there were such a thing as a chicken comb. I really want to clean their feathers for them. I know NOT to bathe them as it’s bad for them.
The change in just a week is crazy. I can’t wait to see the difference in the next round of progress pictures of these Old English Game chicks!
